Thanks for reading and responding Amy. It’s one of the challenges we have when we write just one story from one perspective that we can’t get over the full complexities of the lives we lead. I don’t believe I ever abandoned anyone, and have been present through school recitals, learning to ride bikes, homework challenges and holidays. I appreciate that this isn’t always the same view of other people, and may not be my daughter’s.

We’ll never know what would have happened if decisions and actions had been different, but my belief, and that of the counselling and support network that my daughter has, is that the largest cause of issues in my daughter’s life stem from her relationship with her mum. I will continue to do what I can to allow her to achieve what she is capable of.

Being a father of five girls definitely does not qualify me as an expert in parenting!
