I didn’t think I had much in common with Woody Allen … but I do

But thankfully not too much

I’ll clarify the title of the post very early on in order to avoid any awkwardness.

  • I have NOT married someone who is 35 years younger than me
  • My wife is NOT the adopted daughter of a former lover
  • I have NOT been accused of sexual abuse
  • I have NOT won any Oscars for directing or screenwriting (or anything else come to mention it)
  • I do NOT play the clarinet (although it was the instrument that my school selected for me when I was about 8 but I was too busy playing sports to ever learn)

There are probably some other areas where we aren’t quite the same, but getting on to the areas where we have some commonality:

  • We both have ex-partners who have gone a little bit cuckoo and who have done everything in their power to separate us from our children

I’ve been listening to the audiobook of Woody’s autobiography, read by the neurotic New Yorker himself, and was recently listening to the part of his life that covered the fallout of his relationship switch from Mia Farrow to Soon-Yi Previn.

If you’ve not heard the gossip, Allen had been dating Farrow for a decade or so, but…
