Board Games Are Not Boring. They Educate Your Children

Honestly. As long as you have the patience.

I approach the majority of things that I do with the children as an opportunity for learning.

We aren’t just brushing our teeth. We’re learning how to look after our body.

We aren’t just making breakfast. We’re understanding how to balance our diet and not give in to temptation.

It genuinely isn’t as tedious as it sounds, as the majority of the time the children aren’t aware that’s what’s happening. To them, it’s just teeth brushing and breakfast, but over time the messages that this comes with seep into their brains and by the time they leave home I know they’ll be hygienic and eating (relatively) healthily.

And it’s the same with board games.

Family time

Family time is important and we mix it up.

Sometimes it’s sitting and watching Strictly Come Dancing together.

Sometimes it’s playing sports.

And sometimes it’s raiding the games cupboard and seeing what we fancy.

This year we’ve played:

  • Monopoly — the classic which develops concentration and maths skills

Being a father of five girls definitely does not qualify me as an expert in parenting!
